The famous wine estate Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 in Wehlen, on the Mosel. It is one of the most unique white wine producers in Germany.
We started the grape harvest on 1st October and were initially able to harvest pleasing quantities of beautiful Kabinett grapes, particularly in the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and then also grapes of excellent Spätlese quality in all four vineyards. When it became almost summery again in the course of October, the grapes also ripened to Auslese and Goldkapsel levels, and we even were able to select a small amount of Beerenauslese. The harvest ended on 31st October.
The name Domprobst can be traced back to the fact that the interest income from the best vineyards was paid to the “Probst” of Trierer cathedral, who of course only choosed the best sites. The Graacher Domprobst has a slope of up to 70% with an optimal south-west orientation.
