The famous wine estate Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 in Wehlen, on the Mosel. It is one of the most unique white wine producers in Germany.
After a mild, humid start of the year, temperatures dropped remarkably in February and March 2018. By the start of April, all seasons were warmer and drier in 2018 than average. A high amount of sunny, very warm days caused a fast ripening process of the grapes and a very early start of harvest in September. A beautiful range of all Prädikatwines from Kabinett to TBA was picked during the following weeks during beautiful weather conditions. Despite the fact, that 2018 was a rather hot year, the wines are not overly rich but kept a beautiful freshness and balance.
Wehlener Sonnenuhr („Sonnenuhr“ literally means sundial) most famous and best vineyard of JJ Prüm; deep, weather-beaten grey slate soil, extreme steepness of 70%, south-southwest exposure; wines can be aged for years to express their fine minerality and depth
grapes are hand-picked, predominantly single pale, fermentation in stainless steel with wild yeast.
