The famous wine estate Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 in Wehlen, on the Mosel. It is one of the most unique white wine producers in Germany.
After a mild start with a mixture of dry and rosty days, the months June, July and August brought high temperatures, with a peak of a remarkable 39.5°C. The rainfall in July helped to prevent damage from drought stress. A greater challenge for the winegrowers was damage caused by sunburn. Nevertheless, the ripening in the last decade of September had progressed so speedily that they already began to harvest a ripe vintage with good acidity and high extract. Even if the quantities were more moderate, the excellent taste, a fine spiciness, good acidity and a rich offer of different. Prüm is looking forward to an impressive vintage with fine acidity and great potential.
Graacher Himmelreich (“Kingdom of heaven in the village of Grach) faced more westwards, little less steep and deeper soils than Wehlener Sonnenuhr, weather-beaten grey slate soil with good water reservoirs
Grapes picked by hand, predominantly single pale, fermentation in stainless steel tanks with wild yeast.
