The famous wine estate Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 in Wehlen, on the Mosel. It is one of the most unique white wine producers in Germany.
2016 had an extreme first half of the year with remarkable temperature variations and well-above average rain. This challenged the vines a lot, before they had to adopt to very calm, dry weather conditions in the second half. Despite an unusually sunny August and September, the grapes ripened at leisurely pace, prompting the estate to start harvest on October 10th. The calming weather conditions of the following weeks allowed us to finish in mid of November. The long harvest brought a well-balanced range of Kabinett, Spätlese and Auslese. A limited quantity, of partially botrytis-affected grapes could be used to produce Goldcap, in the final phase.
