The famous wine estate Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911in Wehlen, on the Mosel. It is one of the most unique white wine producers in Germany.
Flowering started at the end of April for the Riesling vines. Summer brought enough rain and warm periods to cause black rot. Luckily it doesn´t affected many of the grapes. Sunny days and high temperatures were missed in Juli and August, so there was a slow vegetation period. The long ripening process was excellent for the late ripening grape variety Riesling. Especially on the steep slopes the vines profit from the minerals of the slate soil. The weather fluctuation influenced the aroma characteristics in a positive way. Low alcohol levels and a rich, fruity bouquet are remarkable for the 2004 vintage.
