Vintage report

The second half of 2018 brought heat and drought throughout Germany. While the old trees on our farm lost some of their leaves in August, our vines coped very well with the drought. Harvesting began on the 10th of September. The early autumn morning dew in September has been the only water the grapes had seen for weeks. The slowly ripening grapes were in best condition and the yields were unexpectedly good. The high sugar values are especially typical for the year. They ensure particularly powerful and intense wines. The lower acidity is also a guarantee for early accessible wines, so no long maturation of the bottles will be necessary.
 

Terroir

Blend of 100 % Riesling from the Steinmorgen and Michelmark vineyard sites, deep-rooted loess and gravel soil, in some parts loess-loam and clay with sporadic lime inclusion
