The winery was established in 1875 by Dr. Robert Weil and is located in Kiedrich, which is in the wine region Rheingau. The estate philosophy, to compare modern style with old traditions, is reflected in the winemaking.
The 2020 growing season was not quite as hot as some recent years, but it still goes down in the record books as the warmest overall period since records began. June and July were roughly in line with historical averages, resulting in an August and September with sustained high temperatures and abundant sunshine. The fact that our vines were able to develop at all during the extremely dry summer is directly attributable to the water reserves created during the rainy winter months. The main harvest also began very early, on September 21. We are proud to have achieved another Trockenbeerenauslese this year - the 32nd in a row.
