2011 was an unusual year, driven by atypical weather patterns. The result, however, was a unique and spectacular vintage that will be remembered for its amazing harvest of botrytised wines. 2011 can
be compared to the famous noble rot harvests of 1811 and 1911 in terms of quality and quantity.
After a wet and humid start to September, with a brief worry about early rot, a spectacular “picture book” late summer started on September 12th. Harvest at Johannishof began on September 20th and all our wines had impressive must weights. The result will be rich, refined wines.
