The traditional estate is owned by the Eser family and located in the Rheingau region. They´re a member of the VDP association and the CHARTA group.
The growing period got off to a slightly late start in 2010. We had an uneven fruit set during flowering but overall the early summer growing season was otherwise normal. Temperatures in August were fine, but we ended up with 250% the normal amount of rain in the Rheingau. September was nice with only a little rain, thank goodness. Picking started the second week of October and during the three weeks of harvest the weather was great. For us it was the smallest
vintage since 1945. There were enough grapes on the vines, but the amount of juice in the grapes was low. Acidity levels were unusually high, but thankfully the oechsle levels were also very high to balance it out. 2010 will be a good Kabinett and Spatlese year, but we have very little Auslese and no BA, TBA or Eiswein
