When vintners from the Moselle speak of an "envious autumn," they are describing the very different distribution of yields and quality within the growing region. It was the third year in a row that was characterized by prolonged drought. Whether a winery was among the winners or losers this fall therefore depended primarily on the amount of precipitation it received. One advantage of the drought this year was that Moselle vintners had hardly any problems with diseases in the vineyards. This allowed them to harvest grapes that were in good health with moderate acidity. The musts promise very typical Moselle wines with intense aromas and a fruity character.
