In 1400, the Liebfraumilch has been cultivated by Capucin monks around the church of "Our dear lady", in the citycentre of Worms, Rheinhessen. Peter Joseph Valckenberg exported the “Liebfraumilch” as the first one in history. In 1908, Nicolas Valckenberg created the wine line “Liebfrauenstift".
The 2023 wine year in Rheinhessen began with mild temperatures, which were crucial for a successful flowering in early June. The year was characterized by initially severe drought and subsequent rain shortly before the harvest, but also increased fungal pressure, to which the winegrowers had to react quickly and with precise selection.
